La Mesa, Comares, Spain

Click on the pic to return to Spain Autumn 2006 story

La Mesa looms high above the hamlet of Mazmullar. Literally translated it means "the table". A bit of a slog to get up there but once there, fabulous 360 degree views of Comares, Los Ventorros, Periana, and Alcaucin in one direction, the Santo Pita road to Olias (which goes all the way to Malaga) in another.

It was a bright clear day so it was possible to see all the way Velez-Malaga, Torres del Mar and the sea.

As well as great views, the mountain top boasts some other interesting features including mysterious storage holes or caves.
