Arab Street, a short distance from Little India, marks the beginning of another of Singapore's compact "Ethnic Quarters". Slightly run down in places the Arab Quarter had a kind of nice feel to it. Just off Arab Street on Muscat Street is the beautiful Sultan Mosque with its golden dome. The area around Arab Street is a good place to yes ... you've got it ... shop. Various small shops sell goods from Rattan baskets to semi precious stones. Unfortunately I'd just stuffed myself in Little India but judging by the food smells gently wafting around, I would have done well to save a little room for some of the delights the Arab quarter has to offer. |
